On January 29, developer LiTMUS announced that the monster-training/ battling game Mamon King had sold over 80,000 copies in its first month. Produced by the famous Japanese gaming YouTuber Yoshinama, who invested roughly $160k USD out of his own pocket into the project, Mamon King continues to do well on Windows and Nintendo Switch, with a PlayStation 5 version on the way alongside plans for other platforms.
According to Yoshinama’s recent video update, he has already managed to recoup his $160k USD investment and is planning to immediately put all of it into his next project. As he explains, all of the recouped money, as well as future Mamon King sales, will be going straight into the production of his second game. “As long as I have the money, I want to keep making games until I die,” says Yoshinama.
Concerning his next game, Yoshinama says that he can’t disclose any details just yet, but is hoping to start production in around a year and a half from now. If everything goes as planned, he expects to announce the new game in about three and a half years. Apparently, Yoshinama already has a clear idea of what the next game is going to be, and according to his words, it will be “way better and more fleshed out” than Mamon King, with more funding to prop it up. However, it is still unclear whether the next game will be connected to Mamon King or take on a completely different concept.
On a related note, in an interview with AUTOMATON JAPAN which was published before the game’s release, Yoshinama mentions wanting to work on a sequel should the first one be successful:
“If this one becomes a huge success, I’d really love to make Mamon King 2. I know it’s incredibly stupid to think about this when the first one isn’t even out yet and hasn’t received any reviews. But the ideas just keep coming—there are so many things we couldn’t implement this time that I’m sure would make it even more fun.”
However, we will have to wait at least a couple of years before we find out if the next project turns out to be a Mamon King sequel, or something completely different.

Mamon King first drew attention thanks to Yoshinama’s hefty funding and involvement, and many tuned in to follow the success story of an avid video game fan trying to make his dream game come true no matter what. Despite initially not knowing much about game development, the YouTuber’s eagerness to learn and see his passion project through, despite it possibly not selling well, caught the eye of LiTMUS game director Yu Totsuka, who decided to give the project a chance.
Fast forward to December 2025, and Mamon King sold 60,000 copies in just ten days, temporarily holding the top spot in the Japan Steam store’s Top Sellers list and becoming the second most-downloaded piece of software on the Japan My Nintendo Store. The game sold an extra 20,000 copies since then, making it a lucrative new IP.
Mamon King is available on Windows (Steam) and Nintendo Switch. The PlayStation 5 version’s release date has yet to be announced.
