Valve rules Japanese blackjack-based RPG not guilty of “bikini armor crimes.” Brave x Junction’s Steam version now back in previously banned regions

Brave x Junction's Steam port returns to all worldwide regions, including ones where the game was removed due to the "frequent nudity" tag.

In December last year, Rideon Japan announced that the Steam version of their blackjack-inspired RPG Brave x Junction would be banned in Germany, China and Saudi Arabia due to Valve flagging its store page for “frequent nudity and sexual content.” However, on January 21, the Japanese game company posted a follow-up on the issue, stating that they finally managed to get the tag removed from the game. As a result, Brave x Junction’s Steam port has once again become available across all regions worldwide.

Last month, after it was announced that the Steam port of the game would be removed from the regions in question, Rideon Japan contacted Valve, arguing that the tag does not faithfully describe the game’s content. It is important to note that while the game does feature characters in revealing costumes and some suggestive illustrations, it was rated for ages 15 and up by CERO, and doesn’t contain any explicit scenes.

On account of this, Rideon asked for an additional review, in hopes that the tag would be replaced. Valve initially judged that there were no issues with the tag, leaving it as-is and rendering the game “banned” from the three regions in question. While the publisher previously stated that Brave x Junction would likely remain unavailable in affected regions, it seems like Valve changed their mind somewhere along the line, and the tag was successfully removed. To celebrate, Rideon posted an image of their Fighter character being successfully released from the “bikini armor crimes” prison.

Talking about bikini armor crimes, the Western release of Brave x Junction on Switch was also significantly delayed due to the “problematic” character designs. Back in November 2025, Nintendo flagged the game as “legally problematic sexual content involving children,” resulting in it becoming unavailable in the NA and EU regions. After a period of negotiations with the company, Rideon Japan decided to redesign the characters so that they show less skin. The “adjusted” NA and EU versions of the game’s Switch port were successfully released in December last year.
