If you’ve ever wanted to get into assembling model kits but found the hobby too daunting, then Mech Builder 3D might be up your alley. Created by Don Pachi, this indie simulator game features 61 model kits at launch, all of which can be easily assembled, painted, decaled, and freely posed.
Inspired by the wonderful (and expensive) world of Gundam Plastic Model (Gunpla) assembly, Mech Builder does away with the hobby’s more frustrating sides. From not knowing which tool or paintbrush to use to losing important pieces, several steps have been streamlined to allow for a more focused building and customization experience.

Aside from Gunpla-inspired kits, Mech Builder 3D also features Godzilla-looking mech kaiju and kits with more feminine proportions. While the default gameplay has you following each kit’s instructions, the game also has a kitbash mode that lets you combine different model kit parts to your liking. Once your creation is complete, you can pose and take photos of it as is or switch over to diorama mode for more backgrounds and placeable objects.

Building all the kits takes around 7-9 hours. That does not include kitbash mode and the hours you could spend customizing and posing your model kits for some awesome photos. With no time limits to worry about, the indie title is meant to be a relaxing way to experience model kit building.
Mech Builder 3D is available on Windows (Steam).
