Japanese statue manufacturer announces life-sized Berserk bust, statues of King of Fighters Mai Shiranui, Ghost of Yōtei Atsu, and 27 other game and anime characters

Prime 1 Studio recently held their 16th Next Level Showcase, unveiling 30 new statues of characters hailing from a wide range of genres.

Japanese figure and statue manufacturer Prime 1 Studio recently hosted their 16th online sculpting entertainment event NEXT LEVEL SHOWCASE XVI: REALMS BEYOND TIME on their YouTube channel. The program unveiled 30 new statues of characters hailing from a wide range of games, anime, films and comics – including Chun Li from Street Fighter 6, Mai Shiranui from The King of Fighters ’98, Atsu from Ghost of Yōtei, Aerith from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, characters from Berserk and Neon Genesis Evangelion, and more.

Aside from showcasing Prime 1 Studio’s upcoming statue lineup, the program also features behind-the-scenes documentaries and exclusive interviews with the creators behind the characters and works, giving viewers a glimpse of how the super-detailed sculptures were crafted. One such documentary offers a sneak peek into the creative process behind the upcoming Berserk legacy art bust. Featuring Guts and his companions, the large-scale statue depicts the events of the Millennium Falcon Arc alongside a life-sized bust of Guts in his Berserker armor.

Prime 1 Studio also got the chance to chat with Taro Ohrai, the son of Japanese illustrator Noriyoshi Ohrai known for his poster designs for The Empire Strikes Back and numerous Godzilla franchise films. The interview explores Ohrai’s artistic legacy while also showcasing a new statue based on his illustration for the Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah theatrical release poster.  

Additionally, the studio teased some of their upcoming sculptures that are yet to be unveiled. Ivy from Soulcalibur VI, as well as characters from NIKKE: Goddess of Victory and The Vision of Escaflowne will be getting their respective statues and collectibles soon.

  1. Those Berserk statues are the craziest thing I’ve ever seen! Insane detail. I can’t imagine it’ll sell for less than literally $50,000.
