Given Monster Hunter’s 21-year history, it’s inevitable that the franchise has seen its fair share of NSFW fan content. But while hunter-based smut is a given in this internet-based world, it’s surprising how many of the series’ iconic creatures have been “pornified,” as documented by Reddit user forestNargacuga.
By compiling the number of explicit and questionable posts per monster from e621, a furry-themed imageboard website established in 2007, forestNargacuga created two charts showcasing which creatures inspired the biggest quantity of NSFW content.
Unsurprisingly, the Felynes, which are the bipedal cat-like race that have served the hunters as friends and companions since the first game in 2004, topped the charts with 2,391 NSFW search entries.
Coming in a close second is Nargacuga with 2,365 entries. First appearing in 2009’s Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Nargacuga’s fluffy fur, edgy design, and numerous appearances throughout the series are what forestNargacuga theorizes made it so popular among NSFW creators.
Completing the top 3 is Zinogre, a Fanged Wyvern introduced in the 2010 Japan-only Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. Zinogre’s wolf-like features have made it the center of 922 pieces of sexy fanart.
Though not in the top 3, Monster Hunter Rise’s Palamute and Monster Hunter Wilds’ Seikret mounts made it to the top 10 and 11 spots, respectively.
A closer look at the creatures’ latest appearances reveals that most of them were featured in Monster Hunter World and Rise (including their respective DLCs, Iceborne and Sunbreak), as well as this year’s Monster Hunter Wilds. Considering all three titles are in Capcom’s top 10 best-selling games of all-time, this isn’t a surprise.
While knowing which Monter Hunter creatures are the most pornified isn’t going to help you win a gameshow, it could serve as an icebreaker in certain situations. Just don’t look for the content yourself on a normal browser, unless you want it to return some weird recommendations.
