Sony Honda Mobility, a joint venture automotive company founded by Sony and Honda with the express purpose of manufacturing battery electric vehicles, has announced that its upcoming Afeela will be the world’s first vehicle to include PlayStation Remote Play. The app will be integrated directly into the car, allowing passengers to remotely stream games from their PlayStation 4 or 5.
By using Afeela’s “In-Vehicle Infotainment system” (yes, that’s its real name), users can remotely access and control their PlayStation consoles from the car’s computer interface. You still need a compatible console and a broadband connection of at least 5Mbps to stream games, but other than that, you’re good to go.

According to the representative director, president, and COO of Sony Honda Mobility Izumi Kawanishi, the inclusion of PS Remote Play aligned with the venture’s vision for its electric car. “The introduction of PS Remote Play embodies AFEELA’s vision for mobility: transforming the traveling space into a captivating and emotional one. Through this integration, we are elevating the customer’s entire travel experience to an unprecedented level of entertainment.”

While the driver has no option but to take in the sights of the real world, passengers can escape to their favorite PlayStation games. Considering the challenges one faces when maintaining a stable internet connection in a moving vehicle, perhaps it would be best to stick to single-player titles while on the road and wait until the Afeela is parked in an area with good coverage before switching to a multiplayer game.
