The Tokyo eSports Festa 2026, an annual large-scale event hosted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Japan eSports Association, will be hosting a Street Fighter 6 tournament on January 10 next year. While most of the event’s regulations are standard, one of the more interesting rules prevents the use of select characters’ swimsuit skins (as spotted by Game*Spark).

According to the official tournament rules, the banned costumes in question are Outfit 4 color variations of Chun-Li, Kimberly, Manon, A.K.I., and Cammy, all of which feature the female fighters in revealing swimwear. Seeing as the tournament allows elementary school-age children aged six and upwards to participate (as long as their guardians are present), the rule might have been made to maintain a wholesome, family-friendly environment.

It should be noted that while the female swimsuit costumes aren’t allowed, Luke’s and Jamie’s swimsuit costumes are perfectly tournament-worthy. Likewise, some of Street Fighter 6’s other revealing female costumes, such as Juri’s open-chest Outfit 3 and basically all of Mai Shiranui’s costumes save for her Outfit 2, are also good to go. Then again, the event overview states that the rules may be changed at the organizers’ discretion, so there is a possibility that additional costumes will be banned before the tournament takes place.
Considering how Street Fighter 6’s player count spiked during the release of the first wave of swimsuit outfits, it’s likely that Capcom won’t hold back with future cosmetics. While there is still no word on when the rest of the swimsuit outfits will drop, players will have to make do with Juri’s aespa-themed K-pop outfit and Zangief’s Mech Zangie-F skin in the meantime.
Street Fighter 6 is available on Windows (Steam), Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
