Tales of Remastered project will focus on even older entries in 2026, producer says

While the last three announced Tales of remasters were of relatively "recent" entries, future ones will revisit older classics.

Tales of series general producer Yusuke Tomizawa recently appeared in a 30th anniversary video published by Bandai Namco Entertainment,  where he discussed the future of the franchise. After thanking fans for three decades of support, Tomizawa dropped new hints regarding future remasters in the ongoing Tales Remastered Project. He also confirmed that a brand-new title is on the way, as already suggested in past interviews

Launched in October 2024, the Tales Remastered Project is Bandai Namco Entertainment’s initiative to bring earlier entries to modern hardware. This led to the January 2025 release of Tales of Graces f Remastered, followed by Tales of Xillia Remastered in October 2025. Tales of Berseria Remastered, the latest title in the Tales Remastered Project, is set to release on February 27, 2026.

While the Graces f, Xillia, and Berseria remasters update the twelfth, thirteenth, and sixteenth mainline entries respectively – which are relatively recent in the series – Tomizawa announced that future Tales of remasters will focus on even older “classics.” Considering how games like Tales of Phantasia (the first mainline entry) would benefit the most from updated graphics and modern gameplay adjustments, it looks like Bandai Namco Entertainment is on the right track. At the same time, it’s also worth remembering that the remaster project is prioritizing things like feasibility and source code availability over chronological order, so the announced “older” titles may not necessarily receive the remaster treatment in order of original release.

Tomizawa also briefly commented on how much time it takes to develop a game now as compared to before, and humbly asked fans to be patient while the team works on the next mainline Tales entry.
