Publisher Rideon Japan recently announced that the Nintendo Switch version of Brave x Junction has been barred from releasing in North America and Europe. The company is still in the midst of working out the details, but it seems the game was flagged as containing ālegally problematic sexual content involving children.ā
Released in October 2025, Brave X Junction is a blackjack-style fantasy RPG where you defeat monsters through one-on-one turn-based card battles. While it does not depict adult themes or explicit content (it was rated ages 15 and up by CERO), the game features characters in revealing costumes and suggestive defeat screen illustrations. So far, Brave X Junction has been released on the PlayStation store, Steam and Japanese Switch store without issue.Ā
However, a problem has arisen with the gameās western Switch release. Rideon reported back in early October that while the Japanese version would launch as scheduled, the NA/EU versionās status remained unclear. In a new update, the developers have confirmed that the release has been blocked.
They attached a series of parodic images explaining the situation, in which the gameās Magician is informed by a soldier that her design was judged as ālegally problematic sexual content involving children.ā The Magician responds with, āHuh?? Theyāre calling me a child?? What kind of judgement is that?ā, no doubt reflecting the developersā opinion on the matter. A poster in the background of the illustration reads āWe wonāt stand for sexual content involving children.āĀ
It seems that Brave x Junctionās characters were flagged as underaged, contrary to the creatorās intent. Below are the two designs deemed problematic:

Rideon has not commented on whether it plans to make any changes to accommodate the western Switch release, but for now, Brave Ć Junction remains available to English speakers on PC (Steam) and PS4/PS4.
