Indie RPG Aeruta, developed by FromDawn Games, officially launched on Steam on November 6, leaving its Early Access period. The full release comes with a major update expanding the game’s content, and a 20% discount.
Aeruta is a heavily bread-themed, hybrid RPG that combines dungeon exploration, combat and bakery management. You play as fox-girl Chaya, whose ambition is to become a hero adventurer, much like many young people in her world. One day, Chaya accidentally destroys an oven while visiting a bakery, and she ends up having to work there to help the owner, a bear cub called Effie, pay the damages. Gameplay consists of 2D side-scrolling dungeon exploration and running the bakery management segments.
While on adventures, you’ll fight off cute-looking monsters and collect ingredients for your bread recipes. Then, back at the bakery, you’ll bake, set up your bread racks, work at the cash register, clean, and take care of customers. Profits from the bakery can be used to enhance town facilities or level up Chaya’s abilities. As the game progresses, you’ll advance in the story and encounter new companions who support Chaya in her adventures and bakery business.
With its latest update, Aeruta got a new explorable area – The Third Island – which comes with a fresh set of monsters, bosses, baking recipes and resources. Additionally, a new “Hero’s Path” mode has been added to offer players more challenging content and rare rewards.
Other new features include a new weapon class (Rapier), a weapon modification system, a story replay option, and a Patti Farm system, which lets you raise and nurture little monsters as pets. Funnily enough, the latter is an April Fool’s joke from the developers that got so popular among players it became a reality.
While Aeruta was just fully released on Steam, it has already amassed over 600 reviews and a “Very Positive” rating thanks to its successful Early Access period. To commemorate the big launch, the game will be available on Steam at a 20% discount until November 12.
