It’s been five months and one day since Deltarune Chapters 1-4 were officially released (not that anybody’s counting). In the meantime, creator Toby Fox has been hard at work on the succeeding chapters, and he recently revealed the first reactions to an early, unfinished version of Chapter 5.
In true Toby Fox fashion, two of his first playtesters were friends who framed their reviews in a humorous manner. The first friend’s testimonial said the chapter was reflective and made them want to play more, but also commented that they found it “kawaii” (cute) when Fox was worried if it was good enough.
A vague testimonial from another friend simply read “What’s the opposite of ‘I miss Tenna?'” – alluding to the positive reception of the Chapter 3 character. While Fox had his doubts as to the review’s meaning, his friend said that it was merely meant as a joke and nothing more. They also added that they liked the chapter.
While these updates offered no hints as to the contents of Chapter 5, there’s a sense of reassurance knowing that two players already view it in a positive light. Now that Fox has started posting again on his Bluesky account, fans can likely expect more updates on Deltarune soon.
Deltarune Chapter 5 is set to release sometime in 2026.
