New Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure gacha RPG is pulling in average of $680 thousand a day in revenue

Developed by Final Fantasy Brave Exvius studio Gumi, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Ora Ora Overdrive is a top-down TRPG.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Ora Ora Overdrive, a new licensed gacha RPG by Final Fantasy Brave Exvius developer Gumi, has seen massive commercial success since its launch on September 25. According to an announcement by the developers from October 2 (reported by GameBiz), the game’s daily revenue has been averaging at 100 million yen, which is roughly $680 thousand USD per day.

Gumi underwent significant workforce downsizing in 2024 (through layoffs in its overseas offices and employee buyouts in Japan) due to financial losses. But thanks to Ora Ora Overdrive’s success, the company says it now has a solid earnings base for improving its performance. They attribute the strong debut to the popularity of the Jojo IP and their use of a streamlined, yet “elite” development team.

Divided into chapters that follow Parts 1 to 6 of the Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure anime, Ora Ora Ovedrive is a top-down TRPG. It offers a main story mode that recreates events from the anime through strategic battles and cutscenes, as well as a ranked PvP mode. It also comes with an encyclopedia where you can view 3D models of characters and Stands, as well as listen to famous lines from the anime. Monetization is centered around character gacha.

While Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Ora Ora Overdrive is only available in Japan at the moment, perhaps its success could get the developers to consider a global release.
