Pre-orders of Key’s new fully-priced visual novel, anemoi, surpass Summer Pockets over 10 times in the first two days

Anemoi receives 10 times more online pre-orders in the first two days as compared the first two-day pre-order record set by Summer Pockets.

Following the August 18 announcement that pre-orders for Key’s new visual novel, anemoi, went live, Surugaya, a major retailer in Japan, revealed on their X account that the game has already received roughly ten times the number of online pre-orders in the first two days as compared the first two-day pre-order record set by Key’s previous work, Summer Pockets. While it is yet to be seen how many pre-orders anemoi will have in total, the extremely high demand in the first few days suggests that the game already has the potential to surpass its predecessor. Considering it was first announced in 2023, it seems like fans have been waiting a long time to get their hands on the game.

Anemoi centers around Mugi Hayakawa (the protagonist) and his younger sister Rikka as they return to the countryside of Masumi town. Hoping to open a time capsule they buried ten years ago, Mugi and Rikka run into four girls, Spica Tsujikura, Aino Fusaba, Hiiro Awayuki, and Koyomi Shirato, all of whom live and work within the town. There will be five romanceable girls in total, the last of which is the player’s sister, Rikka. Billed as a romance visual novel, anemoi is being directed by Kai and featuresscenario writers Yu Nijima and Hasama (all of whom worked on Summer Pockets). Aside from these three, several Summer Pockets developers are also working on the project.

Aside from a standard edition, anemoi will also be getting a limited edition release that includes an original booklet, an arrangement album, an acrylic key chain, a signed card, and an original sticker. There are also some store-specific illustrations that you can get if you purchase from select stores.

Anemoi is set to release on January 30, 2026 for PC (Windows).
