Horror sim lets you monitor real-life “haunted” properties in Japan for anomalies

Japan Stigmatized Property launches August 15 for PC (Steam) and mobile.

If you find yourself growing bored of horror games that have little truth to them, then perhaps Japan Stigmatized Property will be up your alley. Developed by Loxarc Inc., the found footage-style horror sim reportedly uses real stigmatized properties located in Japan.

As a surveillance officer, it is your job to review footage of stigmatized properties and report any anomalies you find. These come in multiple forms (such as shadowy figures and ghosts, moved furniture, bloodstains, and video distortions), all of which are randomized at the start of every level. It should be noted that the game uses AI-generated content to create some of its anomalies.

You will be switching between regular camera footage and night vision cameras to spot irregularities throughout the night. If you manage to spot enough of them and maintain surveillance from midnight until 5 a.m., the job will be completed and you will live to see another day. Too many false reports or not finding enough anomalies will result in you failing the job (and possibly joining the ghosts in the afterlife).

There will be four properties (levels) upon launch, each with a standard and “Special Assignment” difficulty. In order to capitalize on its use of real haunted footage, the official Japan Stigmatized Property webpage is stylized to look like a dated company homepage dedicated to recruiting new members.

Japan Stigmatized Property launches August 15 for PC (Steam) and August 25 for iOS. An Android version of the game is in development.
