While Persona fans wait with bated breath for the official reveal of a sixth mainline entry, the official Atlus West X account is hopping on the meme train with its own meta franchise reference. A recent post with the text “is this a persona reference” cheekily nods to Persona fans’ eternal search for obscure references, whether it be in other franchises or completely random objects. Given its status as an official account, several fan-made theories regarding upcoming Persona 6 news have started to surface.
The Persona 6 theories aren’t as numerous or outlandish as those posted by, say, Deltarune fans. There is the usual influx of people asking for Persona 6 news, and those looking for hidden meanings in the post.
It seems the majority of the Persona fanbase understands that the post isn’t meant to be taken seriously. This hasn’t stopped others from poking fun at it, however, as many have sent snappy replies and Persona references of their own.
The official Atlus West X account has been on a bit of a meme streak recently, posting everything from Persona 3 plushie dances to clips of Metaphor: ReFantazio’s protagonist doing sick skateboard tricks while atop his sword. The chances of a Persona 6 reveal seem unlikely, but at least the X account manager is having fun engaging with fans.
