Given Mr. “Ant” Tenna’s popularity both before and after his official Deltarune debut, it was only a matter of time before fans started tinkering with his in-game model. The STEVE HARVEY replaces tenna mod by GameBanana user dofusmanstan swaps everyone’s favorite fictional, TV-headed gameshow host with a very real, normal-headed one.
The beginning of Tenna’s introduction sequence was swapped out for a rather lengthy YouTube short consisting of Family Feud clips. The remainder of the intro replaces most of Tenna’s sprites (his dancing tuxedo sprite remains) with lightly edited, pixelated pictures of popular television host Steve Harvey. There are even some text and image edits that make Mr. Ant Tenna’s TV Time! look more like an episode of Family Feud. While the mod may seem low-quality at first glance, , dofusmanstan put a lot of work (a maximum of 5 minutes of effort for each image according to him) into making sure that the Steve Harvey pictures would shift and contort to match Tenna’s exaggerated movements. He even went the extra mile to match each of Steve Harvey’s facial expressions to Tenna’s emotions.
Tenna’s 3D (and 3D-inspired) models heavily contrast with Deltarune’s simpler, flat style, so the low-res Steve Harvey images actually fit better with the rest of the game. Apparently, The STEVE HARVEY replaces tenna mod only edits Tenna’s intro sequence and not his succeeding appearances. However, this humorous mod could serve as more than enough of an inspiration for other witty modders to swap Tenna’s models with something just as hilarious.
Deltarune Chapters 1-4 is now available for Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, PC (macOS and Windows), and PlayStation 4 and 5.
