Deltarune OST spawns new wave of the most random fan remixes

An unlikely remix of Deltarune's theme song and the SpongeBob SquarePants ending song has sparked a series of bizarre combinations.

When Deltarune fans aren’t busy looking for false hidden messages in creator Toby Fox’s social media posts, they’re creating some of the most bizarre (but not unwelcome) content. After seeing an edited SML short, user Christian64 responded with a remix sample that combines the recurring theme from Deltarune (first heard in the song “Beginning”) with the SpongeBob SquarePants closing theme. The remix blew up on X, spawning several samples of the Deltarune theme mixed with other popular songs.

No song is safe from the remix treatment. Deltarune fans started incorporating popular video game music like Fox’s own Undertale tracks and the themes of Crash Bandicoot and Mario Kart DS. The remixes eventually started spreading to different music genres and eras, encompassing pop songs like One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful” and neo soul tracks like Tyler, the Creator’s “Are We Still Friends?,” all the way to classics like A-ha’s “Take On Me” and Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September.”

Deltarune

Almost all of the tracks start normally before veering off into some form of the Deltarune theme. Because the theme is a string of simple notes, it isn’t hard to modify any song to fit with Kris, Susie, and Ralsei’s anthem. More samples are being added to the original post, so if you look hard enough, you can create a playlist of your favorite Deltarune theme mixes.

Deltarune Chapters 1-4 is now available for Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, PC (macOS and Windows), and PlayStation 4 and 5. Chapter 5 is set to be released sometime in 2026.
