During Sony’s recent State of Play, Konami announced that Silent Hill f will be releasing worldwide on September 25, 2025 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The latest batch of new info on the game includes a spooky trailer showing off monster designs and combat, but we’re also starting to learn more about Silent Hill f’s cast, who seem to have had a rough time dealing with the psychological horror.
Set in 1960s Japan, Silent Hill f puts you in the role of schoolgirl Hinako Shimizu. Hinako is modelled after and voiced by Japanese actress Konatsu Kato, who recently shared a message about her involvement in the game. Alongside the usual expressions of gratitude for the role, Kato commented, “I’ve been living as Hinako in the world of Silent Hill for a long time now. On some days, I almost felt my own sanity slipping, but it was worth it to be able to contribute to this game.”
From what we’ve seen so far, Silent Hill f handles some heavy themes, so much so that it became the first Silent Hill game to earn an 18+ age rating in Japan. The title’s Steam page warns about portrayals of child abuse, bullying and torture, while it’s ESRB summary describes gruesome depictions of body parts being sawed off, people being burned alive and branded by hot irons. Konami advises players to take breaks or speak to loved ones if they get overwhelmed while playing, so perhaps it’s no wonder that the cast members found working on the game emotionally taxing.
Silent Hill f’s developers have promised to stay true to the franchise’s roots in psychological horror despite the changes in setting, and producer Motoi Okamoto explained that Hinako’s choices can lead her either to embracing elegance and beauty, or to madness and horror. This spiral into insanity may be what Kato is referring to in her message.

It’s also worth mentioning that Silent Hill f’s story was penned by Ryukishi07, a writer famously gifted at giving players nightmares with his Higurashi and Umineko franchises.
Silent Hill f is scheduled to launch on September 25, 2025 on PC (Steam/Epic Games Store), PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
