Following a significant decrease in earnings in the fiscal year ending March 2025 and a change in leadership coupled with executive pay cuts, Japanese game developer, publisher, and anime production studio Marvelous is expecting a much stronger fiscal year ending March 2026. This optimism stems from three major upcoming game releases – Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar, and Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion – all of which are being developed by the studio and are set to release within the fiscal year.
As reported by GameBiz, Marvelous is expecting total sales to reach 35 billion JPY (a rough 25.2% increase compared to the previous fiscal year and a new record high), an operating and ordinary profit of 2 billion JPY (a 10% and 11.1% increase respectively), and a net profit of 1.4 billion JPY (a 71% increase). Marvelous states that while net revenue is expected to grow significantly, development costs for the new games will limit profitability at first. Full-scale profit contributions are expected to begin in the second half of the fiscal year.

In addition to the three aforementioned titles, Marvelous is planning to release a new Browser Sangokushi Ten mobile game for iOS and Android devices in 2025. Several indie and acquisition titles are also rumored to be in the works.
To aid with the upcoming releases, arcade games like Pokémon Frienda and Pokémon Mezastar are expected to contribute to the studio’s overall earnings. Marvelous will also be looking into its ventures in the music and video industry and see how it can improve profitability in these areas.
