RyuStaTV, RGG Studio’s official live program, will air its 41st episode on May 30, 8 PM JST via YouTube and Nico Nama. Announced as a “special” episode, it will focus on the upcoming Switch 2 title Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, with a panel discussion and two “major announcements” from RGG Studio. Fans have been speculating about what these big announcements could be, some even suggesting that the studio will announce a new game. However, RGG Studio director Masayoshi Yokoyama has since debunked the rumors, taking the chance to explain the concept of RyuStaTV and how it differs from bigger live events, like RGG Summit, for example.
In a post on his personal X account, Yokoyama clarified that the big news on RyuStaTV will not be about a new game. As the devs have explained in previous episodes of the program, such big announcements generally won’t be made through RyuStaTV. Yokoyama notes that the May 30th news may not be huge in a global sense, but that it is a big thing in the context of RyuStaTV, which they consider a smaller, more local program. The message here would probably be not to jump the gun the next time you see the words “big news” in a RyuStaTV episode announcement.
Funnily enough, this isn’t the first time Yokoyama decided to chime in and address rumors regarding Like a Dragon games – in the 36th episode of RyuStaTV, he dedicated a section of the livestream to debunking fan theories regarding the studios’ upcoming game Project Century.
On that note, while it will take some time before we get a new Yakuza announcement – more news on Project Century seems to be approaching. Yesterday, Yokoyama posted a photo of what seems to be an animation storyboard teasing a future work, and fans are, yet again, speculating that this is related to Project Century – the way the characters in the storyboard are dressed is reminiscent of something you’d see in early 20th century Japan, the historical period Project Century is based on.
While this rather mysterious comment by Yokoyama could seem exciting to some fans, and slightly worrying to others, it is almost certain that, if not on the next livestream, there will be more news about the upcoming title very soon.
The 41st episode of RyuStaTV will go live on YouTube on May 30, 8PM JST.
