Continuing his string of Deltarune Chapters 1-4 updates leading to the game’s release, creator Toby Fox has released a 00s Windows Movie Maker-esque video featuring a new Deltarune Chapter 3 character known only as “Shadow Guy.” Amidst the video’s poor image and audio quality, you can hear a string of beeps and boops (which is how Undertale and Deltarune characters often convey speech), as well as a loud yell at the end.
While Shadow Guy’s voice clips could very well be the ones used in the game, this is most likely Fox’s attempt to mix a shitpost with meaningful information. After listing his top 5 Shadow Guy quotes, Fox ends the video with a grammatically incorrect thank you note detailing Deltarune Chapters 1-5’s release date in the United States.
Considering how much trolling fans have done and been subjected to throughout Deltarune Chapters 1-4’s development cycle, many are just happy that the game is releasing soon. Others are understandably upset with Fox’s latest update, as the creator sometimes has a roundabout way of revealing details.
Deltarune Chapters 1-4 is set to release on June 5 for Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, PC (macOS and Windows), and PlayStation 4 and 5.
