Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – How to exceed 9,999 damage

How to get over the 9,999 damage cap per single attack Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 introduces as your party gets stronger.

As your party in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 levels up and gets stronger, there will come a point where your characters hit a 9,999 damage cap per single attack. As high as the number may be, there is always room for more offensive power. Here’s how to exceed 9,999 damage and unleash your party’s full potential.

Painted Power Pictos

Painted Power is one of the most important Pictos in the game

To exceed 9,999 damage per attack, you will need the Painted Power Pictos that serves as the reward for beating the final boss of Act 2. Seeing as this is a requirement to progress the main story, it is impossible to miss the Pictos. However, the large amount of story exposition after the boss fight may cause you to forget that you have the Pictos in your inventory.

Painted Power gives a massive Health boost on top of the damage cap removal but as with all Pictos, you need to complete at least four battles with it equipped on an active party member to turn it into a Lumina. Only when those four battles are completed will you be able to equip the Painted Power Lumina to all of your party members.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 over 9,999 damage

Painted Power’s effects are immediately noticeable

The Painted Power Lumina costs five Lumina Points to equip and is a wise investment. Party members with the Pictos or Lumina equipped can hit more than double the 9,999 damage cap. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s endgame content becomes accessible once Act 3 begins, so your first order of business after completing Act 2 is to turn the Painted Power Pictos into a Lumina for each party member to use. With the proper builds, you can create characters that finish fights within their first turn, decreasing the need to learn proper defense

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is available for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X|S.
