Sega Sammy finalizes $146 million acquisition of Stakelogic after failed attempt to pull out of deal

Sega Sammy goes through with expensive acquisition of Stakelogic following failed appeal to withdraw from the deal.

Sega Sammy Holdings announced its completed acquisition of the Netherlands-based online gambling company Stakelogic on April 30, 2025. The move, which cost Sega Sammy Holdings an estimated 20.93 billion JPY (roughly $146 million USD), is meant to strengthen the Japanese conglomerate’s gambling division to cover a more digital and global audience.

According to GameBiz, Stakelogic officially became a part of Sega Sammy on April 28, 2025 – more than nine months after the acquisition was first announced on July 26, 2024. Between the announcement and acquisition, Sega Sammy grew reluctant about the deal and appealed to withdraw from it due to Stakelogic’s parent company Triple Bells allegedly breaching the share and purchase agreement. As the company allegedly violated gambling regulations in Japan and Turkey, Sega Sammy cited that it could potentially risk facing criminal liability if it went through with the deal.

However, the Amsterdam District Court ruled that Sega Sammy must uphold its part of the agreement or risk paying a €140 million ($159 million USD) fine. As a result, Stakelogic is now a fully owned subsidiary of the conglomerate.
