In response to criticism from players, Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino has announced a revision of the previously announced platform-specific character drop rates for Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road.
Originally, the upcoming football RPG was supposed to offer players boosted acquisition rates for rare characters depending on which version of the game they purchased and played. For example, playing the Steam version would give you increased chances of recruiting players from Team Ogre, Eternal Light, and Ancient Darkness. On the other hand, if you owned the game across two or more platforms and used the cross-save feature, this would make you eligible for multiple bonuses.

Although this system did not make said characters exclusive to specific platforms – only increasing their chances of appearing – players were still quite unhappy with it, citing an unbalanced distribution of teams across platforms and a general dissatisfaction with being nudged to buy multiple versions of the game.
Thankfully, Level-5 was quick to respond to the feedback and do away with the platform-specific system. Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road’s revised system will offer boosted acquisition rates for all teams across all platforms, but in bi-weekly rotations. Basically, each block of teams will be boosted on a platform for two weeks before being swapped out with another group. As an exception, the first rotation following the game’s launch will last for three weeks.

For example, on Steam, Group D (Team Ogre, Eternal Light, and Ancient Darkness) will be boosted for the first three weeks, after which players will have increased chances of acquiring Group A players (Prominence, Diamond Dust, Zanark’s Domain) for two weeks, and so forth. The new system will still give players who purchase more than one version of the game an advantage, as cross-saving will give you bonuses for multiple groups at once.
Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road is set to release on August 21 for the PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
