Spike Chunsoft revealed new details about the upcoming No Sleep For Kaname Date – From AI: The Somnium Files on April 15 – including how its new Escape gameplay will work.
Like previous games in the franchise, No Sleep For Kaname Date’s system will revolve around Investigation and Somnium sections. However, the game will also introduce a third, new section – the Escape section. Each section will feature a different playable character, with the story progressing as the player switches between them.
The Investigation section follows protagonist Kaname Date as he visits crime scenes and questions witnesses. You’ll be able to use Date’s AI-Ball – an AI-equipped prosthetic left eye, to uncover vital clues using visual enhancement.

In the Somnium sections, you’ll take control of Aiba’s female humanoid form and use the Psync to enter suspects’ and witnesses’ dream worlds and uncover memories. Dream world exploration will come with a six-minute time limit, and you’ll have to overcome the subjects’ “mental blocks” to access deeper memories.
The new Escape section of No Sleep For Kaname Date switches over to Iris, who is trapped in a locked room. You’ll be tasked with solving puzzles scattered throughout the room to find a way out. While playing as Iris, you’ll be able to converse with Kaname Date and Aiba and receive hints from them. You’ll need to carefully examine objects placed in the room and figure out how to use or combine them to solve puzzles. The game mode will allow you examine things from a first-person perspective.

No Sleep For Kaname Date – From AI: The Somnium Files launches on July 25 for the PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
