Despite Deltarune Chapters 1-4 releasing on multiple platforms, Toby Fox announced that he wants to make the most of the game being a Nintendo Switch 2 launch title. As such, the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game will have a small special room that makes use of the new Joy-Con mouse functionality.
Fox didn’t reveal much about the special room, other than mentioning it was shown in the new Deltarune Nintendo Switch 2 Announce Trailer. While the trailer showed a lot of gameplay clips, the room Fox is talking about is likely the one where you have to protect the heart in the center of the screen by moving two cursors marked “L” and “R” (signifying the left and right Joy-Con controllers):

Even if you can’t snag a Nintendo Switch 2 on launch day, Fox says that the special room will still be present in other versions of Deltarune Chapters 1-4, only with a different control scheme. He goes on to clarify that all non-Nintendo Switch 2 versions will have the same content and that there are no big differences in the amount of content between any version of the game (players will also receive Pluey for free).
Barring specific consoles’ capacities to import save files from past consoles and the Deltarune Chapter 1&2 Demo (the Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 can import save files from the Nintendo Switch 1 and PlayStation 4 respectively), the only big difference between the Deltarune Chapters 1-4 versions is the inclusion of trophies on the PlayStation 4 and 5. Fox does not recommend going for the Platinum trophy as it will only bring players “frustration and anguish.” While some players will heed his warning, most will take it as a challenge worthy of their single $24.99 purchase.
Deltarune Chapters 1-4 is set to release on June 5 for Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, PC (macOS and Windows), and PlayStation 4 and 5.
