Street Fighter 6 players can finally put the adage “words have power” to the test with the Turnabout Gala Fighting Pass. Inspired by the Ace Attorney franchise, the new Fighting Pass features more Avatar Gear (sigh), the 1995 fighting mecha game Cyberbots: Fullmetal Madness, and cosmetics featuring Phoenix Wright, Miles Edgeworth, Maya Fey, and their adventures in and out of the courtroom.
Those unfamiliar with Ace Attorney may be confused by the Steel Samurai Avatar Gear. The Steel Samurai is the main protagonist of a popular tokusatsu (live-action show featuring heavy practical special effects) in the Ace Attorney world. The cast of the show was embroiled in a murder case early into Phoenix Wright’s career, which the defense attorney was able to solve with his detective skills.
Aside from the Steel Samurai five-piece outfit, premium Fighting Pass owners can look forward to unlocking the Ace Attorney music tracks “Pursuit – Corner The Culprit”, “Pursuit – Confront The Culprit”, and “Pursuit – Catch The Culprit” – all of which feature high-tempo beats that sound right at home in Street Fighter 6.
A photo frame, challenger screen effect, and three Ace Attorney-themed titles help evoke the seriousness of being in a court of law, while stickers featuring Maya Fey, Miles Edgeworth, the Judge, as well as the iconic “Objection!” and “Hold It!” speech bubbles give your messages a little more oomph. Should the stickers fail to convey your point, an emote where your avatar points at their opponent and shouts “Objection!” is also available.
Like past retro games available in Fighting Passes, Cyberbots: Fullmetal Madness is available to play via the Street Fighter 6 Game Center. Free rewards will also be made available to those who choose not to purchase the premium Fighting Pass, though these have yet to be revealed.
The Turnabout Gala Fighting Pass is one of the more interesting Fighting Passes. By crossing over Ace Attorney and Street Fighter, Capcom might just be able to get story-driven gamers to try fighting games and fighting game fans to use their words before resorting to fisticuffs.
