Nintendo raises Nintendo Switch repair prices in Japan due to rising cost of parts

Citing the rising cost of repair parts as the main reason, Nintendo has announced a revision of its Nintendo Switch repair pricing.

Nintendo has announced its price revision plans for Nintendo Switch-related repair services in Japan. The new prices will come into effect next month, starting from March 26.

According to the announcement, it will cost an additional 1,100 yen (a little over $7 USD) to get your Nintendo Switch repaired after the price revision. This applies equally to OLED, regular and Lite models. As an example, repairing your motherboard currently costs around $88, but will rise to $95 from next month. Display repair costs will also increase by the same amount. On the other hand, Joy-Con repairs will rise by about $5 USD, while Pro Controller and dock repair costs will remain unaffected.

Nintendo cites the “rising costs of repair parts” as the main motivation behind the revision. The ongoing situation with the value of the yen weakening has been causing prices to increase overall in Japan, so exchange rate issues are likely a big factor.

Meanwhile, Nintendo is set to unveil the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2025, which is fortunately not expected to be affected by component shortages
