Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series to get official XR game trilogy adaptation

Pixelity is developing a trilogy of games based on the hit anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, under license from Hideki Anno's Studio Khara.

Pixelity announced on February 21 that it plans to develop a trilogy of extended reality (XR) games based on the cult classic 26-episode anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion (source: 4Gamer).

The South Korean XR development studio revealed that it had acquired the license to make games based on the hit anime from creator Hideki Anno’s Studio Khara. The first game is set to be released in 2026. It will cover the events of the first third of the anime series.

Players will be able to experience the story in a whole new way, playing from the perspective of a brand-new character. The action-adventure game will feature a variety of missions and realistic combat, using extended reality to give players a fresh and immersive experience. It will also let you interact with characters from the show, and is expected to include co-op elements.

Since 1997, Evangelion has received a wide range of video and mobile game spin-offs (including everything from fighting games to murder mysteries), however, this will be the first ever extended reality game set in the Evangelion universe. Pixelity has previously developed numerous XR games including the award-winning Rise of the Fallen, Teahouse of Souls and The Patcher.

Pixelity is set to release the first game in its Neon Genesis Evangelion trilogy sometime in 2026, available platforms TBA.
