Assassin’s Creed Shadows parody game Yasuke Simulator to launch on same day as Ubisoft’s title, complete with “historically accurate” GTA style mayhem

HistoryAccurateDevelopers will release their over-the-top Assassin's Creed Shadows parody Yasuke Simulator on March 20.

HistoryAccurateDevelopers have announced that they will be releasing Yasuke Simulator on Steam on March 20, the same day that Ubisoft is set to launch Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

If it wasn’t already obvious from the developer’s name and coinciding release date, Yasuke Simulator is a parody of Assassin’s Creed Shadows and the controversies about historical and cultural accuracy that surround it.

Although the character models are noticeably lower poly than Ubisoft’s AAA title, the lighting, landscapes and costumes look Assassin’s Creed Shadows enough to potentially prompt Ubisoft’s legal team to sit up and take notice.

From the trailer and screenshots, Yasuke Simulator takes the complaints about Assassin’s Creed Shadows and turns them up to 11. In the “historically accurate” gameplay, Yasuke can pick up a modern assault rifle and even jump in a sports car, causing GTA-style destruction in feudal Japan. It seems the game will rank you based on number of kills and destroyed objects, echoing complaints about shrine interiors being destructible in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Other absurd parts include dodging swinging daruma dolls.

It seems that Yasuke Simulator will also pick up on more subtle complaints made about Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ accuracy issues. For example, the fences and torii gates in the image at the top of this article are way bigger than Yasuke, echoing complaints about the architecture being out of proportion in Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ first trailer.

Since the very first images and trailers were released, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been widely criticized on social media for inaccuracies and issues relating to settings, costumes, architecture, etiquette and the use of images without permission in concept art. The description of one of the main characters, Yasuke, as a samurai has also caused controversy, because it is disputed as to whether the real person ever held such a title. In response, Ubisoft recently removed the word “samurai” from the Japanese Steam page descriptions of the game. In January, Ubisoft announced that Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ release would be delayed to March 20, “to better incorporate player feedback.”

Yasuke Simulator is scheduled to be released on PC (Steam) on March 20, 2025.

  1. Yeah because assassin creed games are soooo historically accurate. Da Vinci was in cahoots with assassin’s irl and wasn’t George Washington one too. Don’t get started on the authenticity of a pirates life wow that was definitely spot on. JFC just say what it is ..you can’t have a samurai and make him BLACK even though there is just as much evidence to support he was at least granted the title at some point…I tell you what it’s closer to the truth than some of the other assassin creed games and I never saw a fn complaint but yeah ok …good job nerds. Just as hateful as the rest.
