Monster Hunter: World sold over a million copies just in the last 3 months, despite being 7 years old

Monster Hunter: World, released in 2018, sold over a million copies during the last three months of 2024. World is Capcom’s best-selling title, with cumulative worldwide sales exceeding 28.1 million copies (as of December 31, 2024).

As reported by IGN Japan, , Monster Hunter: World had sold 27 million copies as of September 30 last year, which means the title sold over a million more units from October to the end of December. The upcoming launch of Monster Hunter Wilds was no doubt a big contributor to the boost in sales, but it’s still an impressive figure for a title that’s been out for seven years already.

In addition, sales of the Iceborne DLC alone went up from 14 million to 14.9 million in this period, and 2021’s Monster Hunter Rise sold an extra 700,000 copies, showing that the franchise’s catalogue titles are performing strongly.
