The recommended PC environment has been changed significantly. When Monster Hunter Wilds was initially announced in September, the recommended specifications listed a GeForce RTX 2070 Super/GeForce RTX 4060/Radeon RX 6700XT graphics card and an Intel Core i5-11600K/AMD Ryzen 5 3600X processor (CPU). In contrast, the new recommended specifications list a GeForce RTX 2060 Super/Radeon RX 6600 graphics card and an Intel Core i5-10400/Intel Core i3-12100/AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor. The Monster Hunter dev team has mentioned that they are putting a lot of effort into optimizing the game, so these more generous system requirements may be the result of that.

The minimum requirements have been lowered too, and new running environments such as “High” and “Ultra” have been added. In “High,” Monster Hunter Wilds can be played at a screen resolution of 1440p (using upscaling) and a frame rate of 60fps (using frame generation) with graphics set to “High.” A GeForce RTX 4060 Ti (8GB VRAM) or Radeon RX 6700 XT (12GB VRAM) are required.

In “Ultra,” the game can be run at a screen resolution of 2160p (using upscaling) and a frame rate of 60fps (using frame generation) with graphics set to “Ultra.” A graphics card with 12GB or more VRAM is required, and 16GB or more of VRAM is required when the high-resolution texture pack is applied. The recommended graphics cards are GeForce RTX 4070 Ti (12GB VRAM)/GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super (16GB VRAM)/Radeon RX 7800 XT (16GB VRAM).

If you’re thinking of purchasing Monster Hunter Wilds’ Steam version, you might want to check out the benchmark tool Capcom just released for the game. The benchmark will rate your PC environment and let you know if and how well the game will run on your system.

Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled to be released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam) on February 28.
