Street Fighter 6 is finally getting Master rank splits and rewards in upcoming Mai update

Street Fighter 6 fans who aren’t as eager for the World Tour Master changes or the Match Replay and Match Restore features that are coming with Mai Shiranui’s arrival will be glad to know that the long-awaited Master rank splits will be included with the February 5 update. New Master rank splits are coming, alongside ranked rewards and a matchmaking system that allows for more balanced games.

The much-coveted Master rank is now split into three tiers: High Master, Grand Master, and Ultimate Master. As with the climb from Rookie to Diamond, increasing your Master Rate (MR) by winning ranked matches will allow you to ascend the Master tier ranks (Capcom has yet to disclose how much MR you need per Master tier). Assuming Ultimate Master is the highest tier, the top 500 players here will be awarded the Legend rank, whereupon they must continue to gain MR to keep their titles.

Street Fighter 6 Master Rewards

Players who have obtained Master rank with certain characters will also be able to earn Master Phase rewards by playing as their favorite fighters. Master Phase rewards are awarded at the end of every Phase, which lasts for 3 months. The rewards can be found in the “Rewards” section of the Multi Menu, and each new Phase will have unique rewards to unlock. Based on the announcement, it looks like players will have to get the cosmetics in an ALL category (which currently includes a Fighter Profile Theme and Title) first before they can work toward their specific characters’ recolored costumes.

Lastly, Master Rate at the start of each new Phase will be handled differently. While the median rate for all Master players is still 1,500 MR, Street Fighter 6 will start placing players below or above that threshold. This will make it easier for players of relatively equal skill levels to be matched against each other at the start of each Phase, and avoid scenarios such as a new Master player going up against someone who has held the rank since the game’s release. Master players who didn’t play any ranked matches in the last Phase will have their MR reset to 1,500.

The Mai Shiranui update arrives on February 5 in Street Fighter 6, which is available for PC (Steam), PS4/PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
