Hit multiplayer mech shooter Mecha BREAK to get revamped PvPvE mode with weaponized gliders

At The Game Awards 2024, Amazing Seasun Games dropped a brand-new trailer for Mecha BREAK, revealing that the game’s full release will be coming to PC and console in 2025.

Mecha BREAK is a high-speed, multiplayer mech action game. Players can pick a mech type (sniper, brawler, defender etc.) to match their playstyle, fully customize their craft and pilot, then take to the skies with teammates to do battle in 3v3, 6v6 and PvPvE modes. Since its announcement, Mecha BREAK’s popularity has grown, with the August beta test maintaining a steady 40,000 concurrent players on Steam (source: SteamDB).

In an email interview, we asked the development team in more detail about what new additions, changes and improvements we can expect to see in Mecha BREAK’s full release (the entire interview can be found on our Japanese sister site)

First of all, the dev team revealed that they have been hard at work tweaking and optimizing the game. This includes improvements based on player feedback, improving the hangar exploration sections, balancing mech types, and coming up with new elements to surprise players. There is also a new version of the PvPvE mode, which will get a large-scale beta test in the near future.

So, what’s changed in the new PvPvE mode? The previous version of PvPvE was battle royale based, however feedback from players highlighted balancing difficulties, with certain mech types and team compositions having a tough time. The devs have been hard at work balancing out PvPvE battles in accordance with this feedback.

As part of this balancing, Mecha BREAK’s PvPvE mode will be getting weaponized gliders, as seen in The Game Awards trailer. You’ll be able to obtain these gliders from airdrops or by defeating glider-riding NPCs. These gliders will not only allow players to quickly move across the vast battlefield, but they are also equipped with different types of weapons. This means that they can be used to balance out the weakness of your particular mech (e.g. a Light Sniper could take advantage of a glider equipped with melee weaponry), and possibly turn the tide of battle in your team’s favor. “The aim is to provide players with a smoother, more satisfying experience on the battlefield,” the devs comment.

The PvPvE mode battles will now also contain more diverse elements. For example, NPCs can suddenly interfere in player-on-player combat, adding more variables to the fast-paced battles. “We are aiming to create an environment imbued with realistic tension, where players must always be on guard on the vast battlefield,” the development team explains. Massive boss fights will also take place in PvPvE mode.

One of the highlights of the August beta test was the game’s extensive customization features, leading many players to spend significant time beautifying their mechs and pilots. Amazing Seasun Games are currently considering what other options and features they can add for players to tinker with, hoping to “establish the customization mode as one of Mecha BREAK’s major attractions.”

Mecha BREAK is scheduled to be released on PC and console in 2025.
