Elona’s prequel Elin gets a free demo on Steam
Elin, the official prequel to Lafrontier’s classic JRPG Elona, now has a free trial demo to go alongside the game’s early access version on Steam. While the demo limits players in certain aspects, these restrictions pale in comparison to the amount of content available.
The Elin demo only allows players to go up to 10 feat points (the game’s version of levels). Bases also have a level cap of 3, preventing them from being upgraded any further. Lastly, network features are disabled, though this shouldn’t matter much in a single-player-only game.
With a mix of roguelike and fixed RPG elements, Elin took Steam by storm when it launched on November 1, 2024. It momentarily surpassed Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds as the platform’s most-purchased game in Japan and currently has an all-time peak player count of 18,239 people (via SteamDB). This marks a strong first month for the game and with updates on the way that include new quests, fixes, and content, Elin is poised to have a very good end to 2024 and a promising 2025.
Whether they own the Early Access version or free demo, Elin players are encouraged to join the Elona Discord channel, where they can chat with the developers regarding the current state of the game as well as any future improvements.
