Classic arcade shooter Cotton to get PS4 and Switch release

Hamster Corporation have announced that they will be bringing witchy arcade classic Cotton: Fantastic Night Dreams to Nintendo Switch and PS4. It will be released on both platforms on November 28 under the name “Arcade Archives FANTASTIC NIGHT DREAMS COTTOn.” According to Hamster’s official page, the options menu and manual are available in Japanese, English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.

Originally released in arcades back in 1991 by Japanese game developer Success Corporation, Cotton: Fantastic Night Dreams is the first in the long-running series of shoot-em up games in which you take control of Cotton, a cute witch riding a broomstick. Players must fly Cotton through various fantastical worlds, shooting spells at any enemies that bar her way.

Rainbow Cotton, a remake of the 2000 game in the series, came out on current gen consoles last year. Success is currently working on a brand-new game, tentatively titled Cotton Fantasy 2, which they first announced in September 2023.

For now, both veteran Cotton players and newcomers alike can enjoy the series’ origins.
