Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth won’t get DLC for now as the team wants to focus on getting part 3 out ASAP
inal Fantasy VII Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi has revealed that the award-winning game will not be getting DLC anytime soon. There is a good reason for this though- the Final Fantasy VII Remake project team wants to focus their energy on completing the final part of the trilogy.
Back in 2021, Final Fantasy VII Remake got the Episode INTERmission DLC, two extra chapters centered on Yuffie and her exploits during the events of Remake. Fans have been curious as to whether Rebirth will also get additional content.
In an interview with the Daily Star, Hamaguchi says that although he is aware of the demand for a Final Fantasy VII Rebirth DLC, he feels that most fans want to get their hands on the trilogy’s final part as soon as possible. “So that’s why we’ve decided not to focus the development resources on creating additional extra episodes for DLC at the moment,” Hamaguchi explains. “We really are putting all our efforts into getting the third game out as quickly as we can.”
At the time of writing, the release date for the final part has yet to be announced. However, details about the much-anticipated game have been trickling out. The team is hoping to give players new gameplay that is different from what they experienced in Remake and Rebirth. Part of the focus is on giving gamers more freedom, for example, they will finally get to zoom about the world map on the Highwind airship. New minigames are set to include a revamped version of the popular Queen’s Blood card game introduced in Rebirth. The devs have also teased that the ending will tie up all the loose ends and surpass the original Final Fantasy VII.
