Hideo Kojima reveals meeting with Keanu Reeves, sparking collaboration rumors
In a recent X post, Kojima Productions founder and game designer Hideo Kojima revealed that he was in a meeting with the actor Keanu Reeves. Coupled with Kojima’s post, Reeves’ past work in games such as Cyberpunk 2077, The Matrix Awakens tech demo, and Sonic X Shadow Generations could indicate that he may have a role in an upcoming Kojima Productions title.
This isn’t the first time Hideo Kojima and Keanu Reeves have been associated with each other. Both of them make an appearance in CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077, with Kojima playing the minor role of a braindance producer called Hideyoshi Oshima and Reeves playing main character Johnny Silverhand.
Keanu Reeves himself visited Kojima Productions in September 2019 – two months before Death Stranding officially released on the PlayStation 4. In August 2023, Kojima posted photos of Reeves and Norman Reedus on his Instagram page. Seeing as Reedus played protagonist Sam Bridges in Death Stranding, this led to widespread but unconfirmed speculation that Reeves might be playing a part in a new Kojima project.
Unsurprisingly, Kojima’s latest X post with Keanu Reeves has added even more fuel to the rumors about a Reeves-Kojima collaboration. Considering how Jordan Peele was similarly pictured with Kojima roughly a year before their horror game OD was announced, this could turn out to be the case.
