Resident Evil gets a Christmas decoration nobody asked for
It’s still the Halloween season but Capcom already has its sights set on Christmas. In preparation for the festive holiday, Capcom Stores across Japan will be selling a Resident Evil-themed embroidered tapestry starting November 15.
Despite the franchise’s gory history, the Resident Evil Embroidered Christmas Tapestry looks rather cozy. Hanging from a Christmas tree comprised of several Red and Green Herbs are various Easter Eggs that pay homage to the franchise. Among other decorations, you have Christmas baubles featuring the faces of Resident Evil 3’s Nemesis and Raccoon City mascot Mr. Raccoon, an often-misplaced red crank, and a blue helicopter that always manages to get shot down before rescuing its would-be passengers.
Sitting under the tree waiting to be opened are some Mine Rounds for Jill Valentine’s MGL Grenade Launcher. Lording it at the very top of the tree is the logo of everyone’s favorite multinational conglomerate, Umbrella. While Resident Evil isn’t the first video game franchise people think of with regards to Christmas, the red, green, and blue color scheme of the tapestry works surprisingly well when it comes to bringing holiday cheer.
The Resident Evil Embroidered Christmas Tapestry stands at around 38.5 cm vertically and will cost roughly 2,530 JPY (around $16.55 USD). Those who cannot visit the Capcom Stores located in Tokyo, Kobe and Osaka can check out the tapestry at the Online Parco Capcom Store webpage when it goes on sale on November 15 at 12pm JST.
