Cygames parent reports record-breaking sales and 204.7% increase in profit
CyberAgent, the parent company of Granblue Fantasy developer Cygames, published their consolidated earnings report for the full fiscal year ending on September 30, 2024 (source: GameBiz).
According to the report, the company saw record-breaking sales (up by 11.5% compared to last year) as well as a 204.7% year-on-year increase in net profit. A large part of this is owed to CyberAgent’s successful internet advertising sector, but the company also highlighted the strong performance of its video game sector.
The joined net sales from CyberAgent’s game developers (Cygames, Colorful Palette, QualiArts and Applibot) were up 9.4% compared to last year, and operating profit rose by 34.6% thanks the performance of new hits (such as Granblue Fantasy: Relink, Gakuen Idolmaster and Jujutsu Kaisen Parade) as well as past titles.
It might be of interest to mention that as of June this year, CyberAgent also owns game developer Nitroplus, which is, thanks to the acquisition, currently working on game titles it had previously abandoned due to insufficient resources.
CyberAgent’s forecast for the fiscal year ending September 2025 is as follows:
Net sales: 820 billion yen (up 2.1% year-on-year)
Operating profit: 42.0 billion yen (up 0.4% year-on-year)
Ordinary profit: 42 billion yen (up 1.3% year-on-year)
Net profit: 21.0 billion yen (up 29.3% year-on-year
Operating profit is not expected to grow significantly because it will absorb one-time expenses for console games made in fiscal year 2024.
