Aquaplus 30th Anniversary celebration event hype hints at new Utawarerumono and To Heart releases in 2025
Aquaplus, the Japanese publisher known for VN game series like To Heart, Utawarerumono, and White Album, has been building up excitement for its 30th Anniversary Festival to be held on November 9 and 10. A teaser for the event hinted that there may be something new from Utawarerumono and To Heart coming in 2025. Now the event itself is about a month away, what has Aquaplus revealed so far?
First announced to their fan club way back in November 2023, Aquaplus have slowly dropped more news about the big 30th anniversary celebration in regular livestream reveals on YouTube hosted by anime song singer YURIKA, which are available to watch on Aquaplus’ YouTube channel (no subtitles unfortunately). The teaser trailer, which shows a montage of previous Aquaplus games and their release years, ends by showing 2025 and then Utawarerumono and To Heart– suggesting we will get something new from these series next year.
Furthermore, the event schedule on the official website reveals that each of the two days will feature around 4 hours’ worth of on-stage content at the new Yokohama Buntai venue. This will include performances by artists who did songs for Aquaplus games, live voice-acting performances by character VAs, and variety show-like discussions featuring the artists and voice actors. It seems like the festival is shaping up to be a big opportunity for fans to celebrate Aquaplus and look back on everything they have released over the years.
Although all the event information is presented entirely in Japanese, and there are no suggestions that anything will be available in English, an English-language page has been set up for fans outside Japan to enter a lottery to buy tickets for the event. While this gesture isn’t a game-changer, perhaps Aquaplus will make greater efforts to make itself more accessible to fans across the globe in the future.
Using the 2024 Tokyo Game Show that ran from September 27 through 29 to draw more attention, Aquaplus revealed just before the event that the Utawarerumono Trilogy Set will be coming to Nintendo Switch in early 2025. However, it is unlikely that this is what the 30th Anniversary teaser was hinting at. In the meantime, fans will just have to wait on the edge of their seats to find out what exactly 2025 has in store for them.
