Deadly Premonition creator Hidetaka Suehiro gets mistaken for Goichi Suda again

Game director and writer Hidetaka “SWERY” Suehiro, best known for his work on Spy Fiction and the Deadly Premonition franchise, has been mistaken for his fellow Japanese game developer Goichi “Suda51” Suda. During a visit to Spain, SWERY was given a copy of Suda51’s game No More Heroes 3 to sign. But instead of politely turning down the fan, SWERY signed the copy in the most humorous way possible:

SWERY is starting to believe that people are mistaking him for Suda51 on purpose, as this isn’t the first time this has happened. In 2021, SWERY similarly signed copies of No More Heroes 3 and No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise for fans in Moscow, Russia. As with his latest signing, SWERY made sure to put “This is not my game!” to avoid confusion.

Incidentally, Suda51 and SWERY are collaborating on Hotel Barcelona – a side-scrolling action game where players fight alongside their past selves to take on different challenges. The game contains elements of the Metroidvania and roguelike genres, along with a blend of Suda51’s and SWERY’s unique brands of weirdness. Hotel Barcelona has been a longtime dream collaboration between the developers – one whose copies SWERY will be able to sign truthfully when it releases.
