Blue Archive devs’ controversial Project KV gets replaced by new “Project VK” right after its cancellation 

Only a day after Dynamis One and Studio Alaya (made up of core development members of Nexon’s Blue Archive) announced the cancellation of their new game Project KV, a mysterious “Project VK” has appeared to replace it. 

Project KV was a “nostalgic school drama action” game due to release in 2024. Set in Kapila, the City of Dormitories, the story revolved around a cast of sword-wielding schoolgirls and their teacher – the player. A trailer, several character profiles and illustrations had been released, generating significant interest in the game. 

However, due to the work-in-progress title being developed by former Blue Archive developers and bearing multiple similarities to that game, Project KV quickly caught heat as well. This included accusations of plagiarism and even rumors about Nexon Games’ developers being poached to work on the project. 

All of this died down when Dynamis One and Studio Alaya decided to cancel Project KV and delete everything related to it on September 8, but then things took a mysterious turn. The following day, an indie developer called Studio Vikundi appeared on X, announcing the development of Project VK. The studio seems to have formed within a Korean online community on Arca.live while Project KV was still in-progress. 

According to Studio Vikundi, their upcoming Project VK is a non-profit fan game of Blue Archive and is not officially affiliated with either Blue Archive or the cancelled Project KV. The development of Project VK was apparently initiated by fans who were “disappointed in the Project KV team due to their unprofessional behavior.” The team plans to release a trailer in the near future.
