Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis to feature characters from other numbered FF titles in the future, producer reveals 

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis just celebrated its first anniversary. The F2P mobile and PC game has featured new events each month since launch- but what’s in store for the future? The developers recently revealed their long-term plans for Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis in an interview with Famitsu. 

Square Enix’s move towards a “disciplined pipeline strategy” of quality over quantity, has seen a number of F2P mobile titles get closed down this year including Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia and NieR Reincarnation. Adding to this list, Square Enix recently announced that the 2015 F2P mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius would end service on October 30, 2024. This has prompted concern from fans as to whether it is worth investing time (and maybe money) into the company’s current F2P titles. 

Judging by the comments in the recent Famitsu interview, it seems that Ever Crisis will be taking up the mantle from Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia and Brave Exvius. Producer Shoichi Ishikawa reveals that “We are planning various collaborations with other numbered FF titles and other events. We will work hard so that the game celebrates not only its 1.5 and 2 year-anniversaries but also its 3^rd and 5^th anniversaries, so please continue to enjoy playing Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis.”  

“I think some people are playing (Ever Crisis) while they wait for the final part of the FFVII Remake Project to come out, while others are playing it as their main game. I feel like we have spent the past year developing a new way to enjoy FFVII.” Tetsuya Nomura added. 

With new collaborations in the works, it seems that Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis will continue to scratch the itch for Final Fantasy fans who want a casual, mobile title.
