Neon Genesis Evangelion collab sends Goddess of Victory: Nikke soaring up Japan’s app store charts
Goddess of Victory: Nikke’s ongoing Neon Genesis Evangelion collaboration has caused a spike in the game’s rankings on Japan’s Apple App Store. According to a report by Gamebiz, Nikke rose to 3rd place during the first day of the Evangelion collab, rising fifteen places from its previous 18th spot.
Goddess of Victory: Nikke’s cute and alluring female soldiers are its biggest draw, so it makes sense that the inclusion of iconic Evangelion characters helped bolster its player count. Popular female characters Rei Ayanami, Asuka Langley Soryu, Mari Makinami Illustrious, and Misato Katsuragi can be recruited for a limited time alongside character-specific costumes, music, and more. Asuka is currently available to recruit until September 19, with Rei coming on August 29, and Mari on September 5. Misato can be unlocked by completing the special “You Can (Not) Evade” and “21 Days Login Event: Memories of NERV” collaboration events.
Over on the Google Play charts in Japan, Nikke was recently reported at number 16 in the list of top grossing games (source: Sensor Tower). It remains to be seen whether Nikke will soar higher on the dates when Rei and Mari join the game.
