Shin Megami Tensei board game with 72 different demon figures gets Kickstarter campaign 

It was announced on July 31 that Altus’s popular RPG series Shin Megami Tensei will be getting a board game, which will be funded by a Kickstarter campaign (source: Defaminicogamer). The Kickstarter is being run by Icrea, a Japanese company involved in the production of anime/game figures and merch (They previously designed the logo for Shin Megami Tensei’s 30^th anniversary). 

Tentatively titled Shin Megami Tensei The Board Game, it will be a “super heavyweight” strategic game in which 2 to 4 players aim to create a new world. As well as the board, tokens and dice for each player, the tabletop game will apparently come with around 72 detailed demon figures from the Shin Megami Tensei universe. Each game will take about 3 to 4 hours to complete. 

The strategic part of the Shin Megami Tensei board game will involve elements such as Demon Negotiation (conversing with demons to make them your allies) and Demon Fusion- (combining two demons to make a stronger one). This should all sound very familiar to fans of the Shin Megami Tensei video games.  

For those wanting a closer look before the Kickstarter campaign starts, an in-development sample version of the board game will be unveiled at Gen Con 2024, one of the world’s largest tabletop game conventions, which is taking place in Indiana, USA from August 1 to 4. 

The Kickstarter campaign for Shin Megami Tensei The Board Game is scheduled to open on September 11 at midnight (JST).
