Former Devil May Cry series developer announces new anime-style 3D action game
Japanese game developer Wazen K, who has previously worked on Capcom’s Devil May Cry series, recently announced their upcoming indie title MIGHTREYA for PC. The game will be available in English.
MIGHTREYA is an anime-inspired 3D action-adventure game in which you join Reya, a superhero high school girl and her manager Nio, who are livestreamers making hero content. As Reya, you engage monsters from another dimension in fast-paced aerial battles.
Combat consists of locking onto enemies with the camera and launching attacks and combos using intuitive single-button controls. The game boasts three distinct weapons and over 30 actions and attacks, including flashy finishers. MIGHTREYA will span over 38 stages, with 24 types of enemies.
MIGHTREYA’s developer Wazen K has previously released the spy comedy adventure game Assault Spy, which currently has a Very Positive status on Steam. This title was palpably influenced by Devil May Cry series, which Wazen has worked on as a planner.
Their upcoming action game MIGHTREYA seems to have been in development since at least 2020, when the developer first started sharing work-in-progress clips of an anime hero girl fighting monsters in a residential area. Those interested in the latest development updates and future announcements should keep an eye on Wazen K’s X account.
MIGHTREYA is slated to launch for PC (Steam).
I never knew this developer behind Assault Spy and this, is the former DMC developer. That is interesting information. Definitely has worked hard and refined the mechanics from Assault Spy. Really well done.
