Final Fantasy 14 sees highest concurrent player count in 10 years

Dawntrail, Final Fantasy XIV’s fifth expansion, went live on July 2. In a message to players published on the Lodestone on July 4, series director and producer Naoki Yoshida revealed that FFXIV hit its highest concurrent player count since the MMORPG’s complete overhaul in 2013.

Yoshida expressed gratitude to players while apologizing for bugs that have been occurring. The team is currently working out fixes and will be making follow-up announcements. In addition, Yoshida mentions that the upcoming Patches 7.01 and 7.05 will include fixes and adjustments related to Jobs based on user feedback. A detailed description of specific changes to each Job can be found on the Lodestone

While Final Fantasy XIV’s Endwalker expansion had already broken existing records, leading to severe server congestion and a 160-180 percent spike in pre-orders, it seems the MMORPG’s player base continues to grow significantly with each expansion.

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail is available for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
