Cute girl in Atelier Resleriana gets chubby from eating pie

Players of Koei Tecmo’s Atelier Resleriana have discovered the best thing since sliced bread – a hidden mechanic that makes their best girl round and chubby if she has one too many pies. The best girl in question is Rorona, a character who bakes alchemy pies meant to restore the player’s stamina.

Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator is the latest mainline entry in the Atelier series. The alchemy RPG initially released in Japan in September 2023, with a global release following in January this year on mobile platforms and Steam.

Actions such as clearing quests and dungeons in Atelier Resleriana require the player to consume Stamina. One of the ways to replenish Stamina is by ordering pies on the Quest menu from the cute and bubbly alchemist Rorona. A baking aficionado, Rorona bakes “a fresh batch of pies” twice a day, and they can be consumed for 100 Stamina a piece or kept in stock (up to 2 pieces at a time).

The player can also choose not to claim Rorona’s pies, in which case they will disappear when the day is reset. This “disappearance” involves Rorona eating them, of course, and if you keep feeding her the extra pies – you will eventually be greeted by a noticeably well-nourished Rorona.

According to an in-depth analysis of this hidden Atelier Resleriana feature by game blogger Gameboku, Rorona has two forms – her regular version and the chubby version. There appear to be no mid-phases in between of these two, (and unfortunately no third, even chonkier version), so she suddenly becomes plump after surpassing a certain threshold. This threshold has been determined to be 20 (unofficial) “chubby points” – which you can earn 2 per day of by not claiming either of Rorona’s pies. On the other hand, eating both pies means –2 chubby points, and claiming only one pie puts you at 0 for the day. This means that you can trigger Rorona’s chubby version by not eating either of her pies for 11 days straight.

Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator is available for PC (Steam), iOS and Android.
