Ace Attorney artist reacts to one of the fandom’s goofiest memes 

Capcom has finally announced the long-awaited Ace Attorney Investigations Collection, which will bring two beloved spin-off titles to modern platforms with official English support. The HD remastered compilation’s release was announced for September 6, and the news has caused understandable commotion among the fandom – some of which has reached the ears of Ace Attorney series character designer and voice actor Tatsuro Iwamoto. 

The Ace Attorney Investigations Collection will bring QOL improvements and revamped HD graphics to the two “Investigations” titles from 2009 and 2011, which are centered around prosecutor Miles Edgeworth. This includes an overhaul of the games’ adored chibi character sprites. According to Capcom, the sprites will be remade by their original creator – Tatsuro Iwamoto. 

These revelations have contributed to the resurfacing of the legendary “Edgeworth Runs a Dog Race” meme, which hilariously exploits Miles Edgeworth’s pixel art character sprite from the original Ace Attorney Investigations game. As the two-year-old edit of a tiny Edgeworth running a dog agility obstacle course went viral on social media again, it was noticed for the first time by Iwamoto, who seemed extremely pleased with the video. 

Aside from his work as a character designer on the Ace Attorney series, Iwamoto has also voiced Miles Edgeworth in the Japanese versions of the first three Ace Attorney mainline entries as well as the Investigations spin-offs, so his strong connection to the character must have made the video all the more surreal. 

Incidentally, the original creator of the “Edgeworth Runs a Dog Race” video has addressed the remastered versions’ announcement in a comment on YouTube saying, “going to need to make an HD version it seems.” 

Ace Attorney Investigations Collection is scheduled for release on September 6 for PC the (Steam) and Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One.
